I have received a 1099 misc for gas royalties from West Virginia. Do I have to pay West Virginia State taxes and if yes is it only on the royalty amount? Turbo Tax asked if I had income or made money in any other state and I put West Virginia, was this correct?

Yes, if you received Form 1099-MISC reporting royalties from property located in West Virginia, you would file a non-resident West Virginia State Income tax return. You will be taxed only on income sourced in West Virginia and not on your other income.
We recommend that you work through the interview for your non-resident state before you begin your resident state return. This allows TurboTax to include credits you may be due for paying tax in another state.

What is that threshhold amount for West Virginia?
