It keeps saying my Taxpayers SSN should not be entered directly on the CA information worksheet for electronic filing; you must complete the federal personal information worksheet. BTW I was able to e-file my FED Taxes
Try deleting your state return and then go back and re-enter your state information.
When I first started working on my taxes a few weeks ago, under my personal information, I listed two names for dependents, and I didn't list a SSN# for one of those names.
This evening, I revisit my form, and in reviewing the state taxes, it's giving me an error because of the no SSN provided for 2nd dependent.
To fix the problem, in the My Info section, I took out that second name completely (cuz it was a mistake that I even listed it in the 1st place), but that edit didn't get saved, and the worksheet still shows that name along with a missing SSN #, giving me a message saying I need to add the SSN. I can't directly work on the worksheet either. Help!
Just to clarify, I believe you need to delete a child from CA. If this is not right, comment back.
Follow these steps:
Delete the SSN from the CA Info Worksheet from both the box at top and inside the form... you will be able to proceed.
I am having a serious issue. In PART IV it keeps showing me, the filer, as a dependent. I already went back to the beginning to make sure I didn't add myself as a dependent. (I didn't) But I keep getting this error telling me that the SSN number can't be the same and I don't know how to remove something that isn't there. Quick help is needed please.
I pressed the Transmit Returns to file both Fed and State. I'm getting the following
It keeps saying my Taxpayers SSN and Name/Address should not be entered directly on the CA information worksheet for electronic filing; you must complete the federal personal information worksheet. My Federal Information is all input and current. I'm a single filer. And the prompt is also asking for my Spouse's Tax ID in the electronic filing part?
I can't transmit my returns to file because of this. Please advise.
Yes, this is very odd. Since we can't see your return in this forum, if you're using TurboTax Online, close the program, clear Cache and Cookies and go back to the Personal Info section.
Confirm your info and Filing Status.
Step through the State interview again and Efile.
Or, you could Delete Your State Return and start over with a fresh state interview.

I am having this exact problem but am unable to delete my CA return by the means specified because I am using the download version, not the online version. Please help.
Edit: Figured it out: Go to Forms > click on File menu > remove data > select CA. Re-entered CA state info from the beginning through Easy Step, and this time it allowed me to e-file.
this doesnt help me at all.
