I am trying to complete our non-resident, Oklahoma state tax return. My wife receives a pension from OK but we reside full-time in another state. TurboTax shows that we owe $0 state tax, I am positive that is not correct. Anyone earning over $1000 from an OK source is required to pay state taxes. However, I cannot force TurboTax to fill the form out correctly.
I filled out an online return using a Intuit competitors software and it shows that we definitely owe state tax in OK (as we have in years past when a CPA completed our return). I cannot print out the competitors forms since I already paid for the TurboTax CD software...
Help please??!!??

A Pension payment reported on a Form 1099-R is not sourced state income regardless from where the pension payment originated. It would only be taxable in your state of residence if your state has a personal income tax unless the state has a retirement income exclusion.
You do not file a nonresident state income tax return for the pension payment.
For example, I receive a pension from a company headquartered in New York state. My pension is handled by a company in Kentucky. I live in Georgia.
I do not file a nonresident return for either Kentucky or New York. If I was under the retirement age for the retirement exclusion in Georgia my pension would be taxable in my resident state.
TurboTax software indicated that I was required to file a non-resident return to Oklahoma. For tax years 2016-2019, my taxes were completed by a CPA and I owed state taxes each year. H&R Block software (completed online but not submitted) also shows a tax liability.
Reading through Oklahoma Form 511-NR documentation shows that $10,000 can be deducted from the unearned income when determining state tax bill.

TurboTax requires you to file a nonresident tax return because you entered in the My Info section of the program that you received income from another state that was not your resident state. If this is truly a pension payment and reported on a Form 1099-R then you did Not receive income from another state. Go back to the My Info section and Edit the section for other state income to None.
