Yes, when you start your Maine state return, it will recognize that you have already entered a 1099R in your federal return. Once you start your Maine return, the program will come to a screen that says Retirement Income and Contributions. Answer the questions regarding your pension income and after these are answered, it will take you to a screen that asks you to enter your non-military pension income. Enter the full amount that is recorded on your 1099R. Once this is recorded and entered, you will see your $10,000 subtraction in your Maine taxable income amount.
No this does not show anywhere that my income has been subtracted. In fact later it says because I make XXX I am not eligible for a certain thing. Then it states my full income amount which has no subtractions. So NO your program does not work for Maine State Retirement people...NO NEVER
