Do I file my resident state or my nonresident state tax return first?

We need to file a tax return for both Missouri, our state of residence, as well as Kansas, because a portion of my husband's income is from Kansas.

Does it matter which one I file first here in Turbo tax?

It is recommended to prepare the nonresident state first.  This is because your resident state will provide you a credit for the tax you pay to the nonresident state.  By preparing the nonresident state first, TurboTax can transfer the credit information to your resident state to return.

Just FYI ... you can file them in any order however you really need to complete them in the order they are listed in the state section ... all non resident states first.
