Cost to efile on downloaded Turbo Tax

I'm ready to efile my federal and MN tax returns and it's asking me how would I like to pay the $40 Refund Processing Fee, credit card or take from my refund.  This is the first return I'm am filing.  I thought federal efiles are free for up to 5 returns and the download includes one free state and then $25 per state if I file more returns than one.  What is the $40 fee for?

The $25 efile fee is for all state returns including the first one.  You might have select per to pay the $25 state efile fee from your federal refund.  There is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California) to have  it deducted.

There is one screen that can trip you up. Go back through the File tab slowly and see what its charging you for.  There is one screen that can trip you up.  People get going too fast through the screens and clicking on the bottom right box to continue.  But on the pay screen you have click on the Left button to pay by credit card (not the right button).

Oh,  In the Desktop program you get one free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns. Then each state return (including the first one) is $25 now to efile.   Or you can print and mail state for free.
