Check the return.

IF you print out your tax file to a PDF file, down in the state section there are the "Electronic Filing Instructions" for your state tax return will have the date and D.Debit account and routing numbers shown on it.  (example below for Iowa)

Unfortunately I do not see this on my tax return.  I had to submit tax returns for three states with two of them issuing a refund and one requiring payment.   Oddly none of the states issued a direct deposit but a check and the one state requiring payment has no bank routing information listed in the document.  I am positive I selected a date for payment but cant recall if it was 4/1 or mid April.   My fear is that the taxes will not be removed my checking account.

Depends on the state...most sates do not allow the D.Debit to be arranged when you e-file...and require a separate payment.  My state (NC) didn't allow a D.Debit arrangement at the time of e-filing until last year (2017 filing).

Fist step is to double check that all your state e-files were actually accepted...if that particular state was rejected, teh d.debit won't happen.

IF you "think" you arranged it for 1 April, and if it doesn't occur by 5 April (sometimes it takes them a couple extra days), then you can go to that state's website and find their D.Debit payment page and arrange ti online yourself.
