I filed my California tax return on 1/16/2020 via TurboTax. It is still showing up at Pending.

Checking the status of my return on the CA FTB website it says my 2019 tax return has not been received. Is this normal? Should I just wait it out or are there are steps I should take?

**Update for 2021, (tax year 2020)**

Some of you have noticed an issue where your return has been in a pending status multiple days. This pending status means we noticed an issue that may have caused your return to be rejected and are doing an extra review to assess the reason it was flagged, resolve it for you, or identify what you need to do to ensure everything is accurate and your return is accepted.

If this applies to you, we will be sending you an email within 48 hours with confirmation that your return has been filed, or instructions for any additional steps that need to be taken to ensure an accurate return is filed, accepted, and you receive every dollar you deserve. We apologize again this has caused a delay in receiving your refund.

Mine California Tax return is still stuck pending in TurboTax. I went to the website and entered my info and they cannot even pull it up there.

It is normal for your returns to be pending at this time. The IRS is not yet accepting eFiled tax returns. Before your state tax return can be transmitted, the IRS must accept your federal return.

Your returns are stored on our secure servers until the IRS retrieves them.

Is this expected even if the Federal Return is marked as accepted already? It shows accepted in TurboTax and it is processing on the IRS website.

Yes, this is still normal. It can take a few days after the IRS accepts your return for it to transmit to the state. It can then take up to an additional 48 hours for the state to accept or reject the return.

It appears that your return was selected for processing by the IRS prior to the official tax season opening day. It is common for a select number of returns to go through in test batches, and those batches may take some additional time to filter through to the state system.

Everything is working as it should at this point!

My California State Income Tax is still pending, Federal Accepted on February 12th, California still pending as of 02/16/21.

California is very slow this year for some reason. I filed mine on 1/14/21 through the CA FTB website (I skipped TurboTax for state filing this year because it took so long last year) and it is still processing. I called them today and they said it's in the final stage of processing. Either way it's still been a month.

I'm in the same boat. My federal return was already accepted and my refund literally posted today. My California return remains pending in Turbotax and the program just tells you to exit with no further information.

You're correct. Every time I go into the Turbotax program to check the status of California, it says Pending and just says "Exit Turbotax" without anything further. This is really getting me nervous.

I called today and they said they are processing returns already.

as a matter of fact my business califorina return was accepted.

The woman that I talked to suggested to wait couple of days and send them my tax return duplicate by mail.

Anybody has any other information?

I filed both the fed and California taxes for both my mother and I. I filed them about 2 hours apart. My mothers California return was accepted the very next morning. Mine is still pending a week later. Both Federal returns were accepted immediately. So California is accepting returns. No explanation as to why mine and apparently many others are still pending. I filed them both on February 11. Only difference in the returns is that mine has itemized deductions and hers is the short form. Can Intuit investigate and explain????

Same boat, Fed accepted, Cali still spending in turbotax software. I checked right now on state website and it does not even have records of it being received. https://webapp.ftb.ca.gov/Refund/Result Turbotax you need to get further involved as it is clear there are others who are having their returns accepted while some of us are still waiting. What a cluster F.

they won’t acknowledge a problem. I spoke to a specialist and they just said they haven’t pulled it from there system

To GabiU -- Can you PLEASE get answers from the TurboTax CEO ? This is causing havoc for thousands of Californians who efiled prior to Feb 12 and our software status still says PENDING !

People need to stop marking these threads at Solved. If this is the Admin @GabiU doing this than shame on you. This is not a solved issue.

Also your response is the same exact response I got from the Office of the President after contacting the VP's and CEO.

No one asked me anything specific about my account or social yet they provided the same Canned response you are posting. This is not solving the problem, it is a canned response and people are no hoping something will be updates even though many of us have wait already and still have a Pending status.

So Stop making these Threads as Solved until someone actually gets real solutions from Turbotax rather than canned responses from some office and now the Admins on this forum.

This is poor damage control and the PR will follow!

I received the SAME canned response to my email that I sent to Intuit Exeuctives / President / Michelle.

When I opened up my Turbotax software this morning (Feb 18), yes the program DID have an update for California, which I installed. BUT even after installing the update, my California state return did NOT have me do any corrections. It just STILL SAYS PENDING ! This is ridiculous !!
