After filling out my Oregon return for 2023, I see no mention or line item for the "Kicker" which is supposed to be substantial for 2023. Where is it?

To claim the credit:

  1. Open your state return.
  2. On the screen Here's the income that Oregon handles differently, click done with income.
  3. Continue to the screen Take a look at Oregon credits and taxes.
  4. Click Start next to Oregon surplus (Kicker) credit..

Taxpayers are eligible to claim the kicker if they filed a 2022 tax return and had tax due before credits. Even taxpayers who don't have a filing obligation for 2023, still must file a 2023 tax return to claim their credit.

We did file 2022 and will file 2023. Does this mean the kicker is not refunded/credited until 2024 tax returns?

Thank you.

The kicker credit is on the tax return. I have another post with pictures and instructions to receive the credit, click here.

Hello,

I have a similar issue.

enter in my Oregon tax liability from form 0R-40 but I keep receiving the following message, " It looks like you don't qualify for this tax break"

After filling out my Oregon return for 2023, I see no mention or line item for the "Kicker" which is supposed to be substantial for 2023. Where is it?

Can you clarify:

Which version of Turbotax are you using?

Are you preparing a tax year 2023 return?  If not, what year?

Has the screenshot you provided been modified?

After filling out my Oregon return for 2023, I see no mention or line item for the "Kicker" which is supposed to be substantial for 2023. Where is it?

I am using Turbotax premier for 2023 and preparing my taxes for 2023.

The screenshot is exactly what is seen in the turbotax software and it has not been modified.

It appears a reboot of the PC and restart off the software has cleared the issue.

Thanks for your response.

How do you fix this issue if you have already filed? I called turbo tax and they were no help.

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been submitted, you should follow these guidelines.

  • You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
  • You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
  • Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
  • The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
  • Only make changes to the areas of your return that need amending.
  • You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment

I am not seeing the "Oregon Kicker" credit in the TurboTax guide for 2024. However, I can look up the amount using the state calculation utility. How am I able to see the kicker credit within Turbotax?

Please follow the instructions below to get to the Oregon Kicker credit screens:

  1. Open your Colorado state return.
  2. Continue through your return until you reach the screen, Qualifying for the Colorado state sales tax refund. Click No for the question, Were you incarcerated in Colorado for 180 days or more in 2024? If the answer should be answered Yes, you do not qualify for the credit.
  3. On the next screen, answer Yes to the question, Will this return be filed by April 15, 2025 (or by October 15, 2025 if you file an extension)?
  4. On the next screen, it should say You're getting the Colorado sales tax refund!

Per the DR0104, the Tabor Credit is for full-year Colorado residents, born before 2006, or full-year Colorado residents who are under the ag... In addition, Individuals serving a sentence for a felony do not qualify for the credit if they were incarcerated for at least 180 days of the 12-month period ending on June 30 of the tax year.

The amount of the kicker credit depends on your modified AGI on Line 34 of the Colorado return. Please see the table below.
