Same issue as others - today is the LAST day to file and it says the filing is in process. Others said it has been 2 weeks and says the same thing. Yikes. How can this be fixed pronto? Will it be marked as filed today or do I need to postmark it and mail it then cancel the efile one when it finally processes????

If it has PROCESSING or PENDING status, it is considered timely filed by the IRS- it will look at the time you submitted (transmitted) the returns, so you will not be assessed penalties for late filings. However, you want to continue to check the status to make sure it gets ACCEPTED. If there are any errors, you get a window for correction (usually a few days to a week)- if they are are not corrected, the filing would be considered late at that point.
You should not resubmit or file paper copies at this point, because they will be duplicate submissions. You also cannot cancel a submission once it has been filed.

Thank you for your response. Since it was the last day and other posters indicated it was taking weeks, I already sent a postmarked mailed version. I thought it said that we could cancel/correct/edit only after it was received. In any event, I went the safe route and there may very well be a duplicate filing.
Thanks again.
