I have moved and have filled out the return for my current state and need to purchase my previous state return. I keep getting a "Hmm...it looks like we've hit a slight snag" message. What do I need to do to get the additional state return?

The TurboTax Desktop Deluxe and Premier versions include one free state product download (unless purchased in a state that does not have state taxes). You can purchase as many additional state products as you need for $29.95 each. If you’re using the Desktop Basic version, you can purchase and download as many TurboTax state products as necessary for $29.95 each. If you choose to e-file, an additional e-filing transmission fee of $14.95 applies for each state return.
You can purchase as many state returns as necessary but e-filing is limited to three state returns per federal return. If you need to file more than three state returns with any one federal return, you must print and mail your return. You can purchase state products for TurboTax Desktop either from within the product or from TurboTax.com.
To purchase an additional state from within the program, open your tax return and select Download State from the Online menu at the top of the screen.

Thank you for your reply, however, I am fully aware of how to purchase additional states. I cannot, the system will not allow me to purchase an additional state. Is the system down?

What happens when you try to download another state? If you get an error message, please share it and we'll try to help.
If you're using TurboTax Online, please close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies, and re-try.

I received the same message about hitting a snag. I could only resolve it by CALLING Intuit and ordering the state needed on the phone. They then provide the download to my email to click onto and use on your Turbotax desktop software.
How do I "purchase and download as many TurboTax state products as necessary for $29.95 each" (reference post on January 28, 2025)? In TurboTax Premier for TY2025, adding a second state costs $45!
@cspalding3 The prices prior to March 1 are early filer prices. On March 1 the prices change to the standard priice.
I understand "how" to purchase additional states, the system simply won't allow me to. I get error messages. I have also opened another account with a different email and get the same result. I am forced to use another program for my taxes now. For the past two years.

After entering personal information to purchase a second state tax return, I cannot move on to the billing information, because the little blue box (next?) will not display above the tool bar. How do I complete the purchase so that I can fill out the second return? Federal and home state returns have been completed and checked as well as saved.
