You are confusing the forms and the place to enter it. Social Security is not on a 1099R. There is not a payer ID for a SSA1099. You have a SSA1099.
Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
You are entering the SSA-1099 in the wrong section of the program. The SSA-1099 does not have a Payer's TIN or Address. Delete the form you are currently entering.
To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button
Or enter ssa-1099 in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to ssa-1099
I entered the information exactly in the fields you described as a SSA-1099. When Turbotax runs the Smart Check I'm asked for the payers address information. Where can I find it? Thank you.
@adlerscott Since there is not a Payer's address on a SSA-1099, there is a possibility that there is a Form 1099-R in your tax return that needs to be deleted.
Check to see if there is a Form 1099-R listed and if there is delete the form
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen
Click on Tools
Click on Delete a form
