The most common use of the 1099-G is to report unemployment compensation as well as any state or local income tax refunds you received that year.

How to enter Unemployment 1099-G:

Click the Federal Taxes Tab( Personal Tab in Home & Business)
Choose Wages & Income
Choose Explore on my own or I'll choose what to work on
Locate the Unemployment area - Click the Start or Update Button

Here is how to enter your State/Local Refund 1099-G:

Click the Federal Taxes Tab( Personal Tab in Home & Business)
Choose Wages & Income
Choose Explore on my own or I'll choose what to work on
Scroll down to Other common Income
Click Start/Update next to State and Local Refunds ( 1099-G)
