I am trying to figure out where to enter state tax refunds (these come on 1099 G. if you create a 1099-G form in TT, then you are sent to another form, which is a complete obfuscation of filling in a small item in one single box (box 2 of 1099-G. Thank you if you can help for where to and how to enter 1099 G box 2 numbers on the forms.

Probably shouldn't be messing around in Forms Mode anyhow....the extra sheet with the junk in it, is used because sometimes, not all of the state refund is Federally taxable the next year.
Delete your state refund 1099-G....and then get back to the interview and re-enter it there...either using the Search function...or (For H&B) its in the
< Personal taxes section
<<under Wages&Income...
<<<in the menu section under "1099-MISC and Other Common income".....
<<<<...clearly labelled as "State and Local tax Refunds on Form 1099-G"

Search topics for 1099-G state and local tax refunds.
Unless you itemized in 2017 and deducted the state tax, then there is no need to enter it.
