Did you file a joint tax return? Did you enter all of your income and all of your spouse's income on the same return? Why are you referring to "my" transcript and "my" refund? The refund on a joint return is in both spouse's names. If you entered your own SS and your spouse's SS on the return, the SS amounts including the taxable amount of SS are on lines 6a and 6b of your Form 1040.
Everything by me was entered correctly, TurboTax didn't charge taxes on my wife SS on line 6b, they have her SS amount on 6a, but failed to put it on 6b.
I checked last few years taxes, I used TurboTax, this year they didn't charge taxes on her SS, every year shows her SS on 6a and her taxable amount on line 6b.
But this year, Line 6a shows 30,848, line 6b shows 0.
Line 6b shouldn't be zero, it should have been her taxable amount.
By TurboTax putting a zero on line 6b, line 9 was only my taxable income, which it should have been my taxable income plus her taxable income.
My transcripts show married joint, with code 971 and code 570, I called IRS my taxes are on hold a letter is being sent cause and error was found.
My taxable amount was wrong, cause it didn't include wife's taxable amount, Have to wait on letter.
I went back to TurboTax download my copy of and sure enough on line 6b it shows zero, while line 6a shows 30,848.
So TurboTax made a mistake, and I am trying to find how to directly talk to an agent, I shouldn't be charged for their mistakes.
