@neufmeister. The best to enter is:
I have done this, but sometimes there's like a rain drop under the line where I am to enter and it does not recognize my input. Other times there is no rain drop but it still will not let me enter anything.
Try deleting the SSA-1099 and re-entering from the beginning.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, click on FORMS in the upper right, choose SSA-1099 from 'Forms in My Return' and 'Delete' at the bottom of the form when it opens.

Hello,
I'm using Tax Year 2021 DeLuxe version installed from CD in my desktop. The SSA-1099 dialog (The Interview) Box 5, and other boxes to enter benefits, do not allow typing numbers in the boxes. The boxes seem to be closed to typing any input. This should be a bug.
I think I found another bug, but it's unrelated to this thread. How can bugs be reported?
TIA
Nick
If it's not related to this thread, you can start a new one with your issue. However, try updating the software to see if that resolves the issue.

Yes, my question is related to this thread. It's about TurboTax not letting the user (me) enter the amounts that go in SSA-1099 thru the Interview
Also, when I started TurboTax, it did an online update, and said it was up to date
How can bugs be reported so they get fixed?
TIA
Before we assume it is a bug in the program let's try the steps below:
If simply signing out and opening a new browser window does not work. Shut down your computer and then restart and then go back into TurboTax and follow the steps above.
@FederalInquirer [EDITED 3/8/2022 4:41 PM PST]
Hello. Working on the 2021 version of the Home and Business version on Turbo Tax. I received the cd version and loaded it onto my desktop. I am also unable to enter in SS information, in fact, when I selected the "Update" button on the input screen on the SS line, a blank screen appears. Any suggestions? Perhaps a patch is necessary in the next update?
Thanks
DC
I ended up inputting the data directly into the forms. It's disheartening that the program does not work as it should though and this is two years in a row!
All SSA-1099 forms get entered in the same place:
This TurboTax link Where do I enter an SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM, or SSA-1099-R-OP1? has information you may find useful
When I go to wages and income and scroll down to enter the data it says update instead of start.
Yes, click Update to add Form 1099-SA. Sometimes TurboTax displays Update instead of Start, depending on what entries you've already made.
This didn't work
If you are using TurboTax Online, the most likely reason for buttons that don't work or not being able to enter information is that something in the web browser is not displaying the page properly. The easiest way around this is to simply use a different web browser. You can select from Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and more. If you need to install another browser, be sure to go to the trusted home site for the software, for security reasons. Or you can clear the cache and cookies in your current browser. If you are using the Turbo Mobile App, then try opening Turbo Tax in the browser window on your phone. It will use the same login information but may display the page better.
If you are using a touch screen, please try a keyboard and see if that makes a difference.
