I have seen a problem here, too. The default exempt interest/dividends from federal taxes are not appropriate for the NH DP-10, requiring that one edit the numbers in the NH forms. However, TurboTax does not allow the numbers to be edited. This is a MUST-FIX before NH taxes may be filed.
Yes - I also experienced this data entry on line 4 issue where data is populated in random order. Also not clear how to edit the data to correct. ***** And especially troubling is the result when I tried DELETE the state to start entering data anew: the data import increases the NH REFUND amount by $209 each time I delete and start anew. It happens every time I delete and start anew. I've requested TECH SUPPORT and am now awaiting my 3rd call-back. Uggghhh.
I'm having an issue as I know we need to file a DP-10 and the blank form is available in "forms" but Turbo Tax won't let me walk through entries. Very frustrating.
Yes, I am experiencing severe problems with the DP-10 form with TurboTax Premium year 2020 latest version as of July 9 2021.
Item 4, List of payors and amounts of interest and/or dividends not taxable to New Hampshire... is completely flawed. The info comes in from the federal return without the Payor's identification number. There is a nonsense line which duplicates a payor with a non-taxable amount of 0. The presence of the duplicate line means that I have more than 5 lines total, which means NH won't take it as an e-file !! And there is no way to "override" by deleting the line.
Right-click Data Source gives a dialog saying
From the New Hampshire Interest Income Statement which calculates information from federal Schedule B, Interest & Dividend Income, entries with state ID's of NH or blank and :
* interest items of type M or Tax exempt interest with state ID's of NH
* the portion of dividends representing US interest, nontaxable distributions and exempt-interest dividends.
From the New Hampshire K-1 Worksheet, the differences between the reported federal amounts and the New Hampshire amounts for each type.
Yet there is no way to get to this data source to override the nonsense. This is a very serious bug.
And, some follow-up. In contrast, the free NH Granite Tax Connect web site, https://gtc.revenue.nh.gov, is excellent. Its DP-10 form is online. I was able to take the numbers from my federal return and put them in fairly easily. There is basically no need to pay for the NH state tax form if you just want to pay interest÷nds tax, as far as I can tell. The TurboTax state form for NH is worthless (to me, at least).
TurboTax processing of NH State Tax Form DP-10 is so bad that it is unusable. Really poor quality! Multiple problems. Seems that TurboTax did not even try to get it right.
I am a product specialist and just helped a customer resolve this issue.
If you are working in the desktop program (installed on your computer):
Would you please click "File" in the upper left-hand corner of the TurboTax window?
Next, please click "Remove State Return."
Then, you will go to the State tab and go through the return again. This resolves the issue.
If you are working in TurboTax Online:
If you have already paid for the state, you will not be able to delete the State, which will resolve the issue.
If you have not paid, you will have a Delete next to the Edit button on the State returns page.
Delete the State return and then re-enter the info.
Hope you find this useful!
Is no one fixing this problem? I cannot complete my NH taxes.
I gave up on waiting for TurboTax fix. I had good luck performing NH tax component directly on the NH government tax site.
I logged a call last week again this year with one of their support people who "opened a ticket"
For the return I'm working on, I know there is a NH tax due and that I need to fill out form DP-10. Turbotax does not import any of the information from the federal return. To make matters worse it creates the appearance that no tax or NH return is required when there is in fact a tax due. I opened up the forms and entered the info manually and got it to create a DP-10 that way. Not a satisfying solution.
I can't submit my taxes with Turbo tax until this is fixed. Why has this not been resolved for over a year?!
This bug is preventing me from being able to file my NH taxes with TurboTax. I had to file manually.
This doesnt work. Is there another option?
Can you clarify what you are seeing? Are these the entries from the federal section? @akwyke
"I know there is a NH tax due and that I need to fill out form DP-10 but turbotax does not import any of the information from the federal return. To make matters worse it creates the appearance that no tax or NH return is required when there is in fact a tax due."
Same problem this year as last. Turbo tax does not recognize income for which a NH state tax is due, fails to import that information from the federal return to the state return and would lead someone to believe that no NH state tax is due when there is. The fix is to either abandon Turbotax and use NH's online form, or to open the forms manually on Turbo tax and enter the information manually.
