Error "Form 1099-R: Box 12a should not be greater than gross distribution amount." 12a=$580 and gross amount on line 1= over 11,000. Why am I getting this error?

Edit the 1099-R form and look at the actual values on the software form again.

A mis-entry on either one could be the cause.

I went through the entries with a representative and they were all correct. To correct the issue I had to completely delete the form and start over and then it worked. Thanks for the comments.

Bingo...that was my next suggestion....but the phone Rep was on top of it
