IRS says:
"If no dollar amounts are changing, leave lines 1-23 EMPTY"
Your 1040-X would just have Part III Explanation with your statement.
Hopefully, IRS could process it in less than 20 weeks.
If you e-File 1040-X with TurboTax, TurboTax sends the entire tax return again.
Thanks fanfare.
What do you mean by "If you e-File 1040-X with TurboTax, TurboTax sends the entire tax return again"?
Yes, I was planning to use TurboTax. I am waiting for the 3rd party to send me the 1099s to submit with the 1040x. Do I need to be aware of anything else?
Thanks.
1099-Rs come in February.( you already knew that). e-File 2021 will be closing on Oct 15.
With no taxable earnings on excess contribution, and no dollar amounts changing, there no reason to amend.

IRS says:
The electronic Form 1040, 1040-SR, and 1040-NR Amended Returns (with attached Form 1040-X) will require submission of ALL necessary forms and schedules as if it were the original submission, even though some forms may have no adjustments.
Thanks fanfare.
So in essence, it sounds like I don't have to amend it as there is no change in the amounts.
Also, yes I knew I that I will be receiving the 1099s next year. But I thought, I may receive couple 1099s this year to file with the amendment.
Now that you are confirming that the the 1099s will be mailed early next year and there is no change in the amounts, I think I am good. I will report all this with my 2022 tax returns.
Thank a lot for all this. You guys are the best!
