early 2024, I converted two 401K accounts to large Traditional IRA and a smaller Roth IRA.
I then in Dec 2024 withdrew $20K from traditional IRA and transferred to the Roth IRA
I received the 1099R form for the $20K
entered into Turbotax Premier
1. gross Dist =$20K
2A taxable amount = $20K
2b taxable amount not determined = X
7. Distribution Code = 7
IRA/SEP.... = X
my question is - I thought this withdrawel would have been taxable - but its not showing any difference to my Turbotax refund
help?

How many 1099R did you get? What’s on line 4b? You said 43,713 which is more than 20,000. @dmertz
According to you and the Form 1099-R, it is a taxable distribution. After you entered your Form 1099-R, there are a series of questions, there is a page with "Tell us if [you] moved the money through a roll over or conversion". Make sure you indicate "I converted some or all of it to a Roth IRA". On the next page make sure you answer "Yes, all of this money was converted to a Roth IRA". You should see your $20,000 on line 4.b. of your Form 1040 as a taxable distribution.
David66 thank you for the response

David66,
Looking at line 4b on my 1040 the value is $43713
But I changed the $20K —> to Roth to $1.00 and the line in 4b stayed at $4713
I thought that would reduce $19999.00 less
What is missing?
Anyone?
How many 1099R did you get? What’s on line 4b? You said 43,713 which is more than 20,000. @dmertz
Volvo Girl,
your question prompted a thought
3 1099R 2 Inherited + my 1099R
1099R #1 (Inherited with RMD) @ 23,465.85
1099R #2 (Inherited with RMD) @ 247.43
Which adds to the total $43713
I figured it out
Thank you
Oh and I missed you rollover over some 401Ks? Did you get 1099R for those? What code is in box 7? They should be on line 5a and 5b with the Rollover written by it.
Line 5A has rollover under my Ira that I rolled over from a 401k to IRA
line 4b has the 4713.00
line 5b has $30###.00
as for your other questions
3 1099R 2 Inherited + my 1099R
1099R #1 (Inherited with RMD) at 23,465.85
1099R #2 (Inherited with RMD) at 247.43
Corrected -> 1099R #3 at 20,000.00
(my $20K withdrawal from traditional IRA) converted to my Roth IRA)
7. Distribution Code = 7
Which adds to the total $43713
I hope it’s ok because I already efiled to IRS
