What state are you filing in?
The first $10,200 (per person) of unemployment is (for 2020) not taxable on the federal level.
However, not all states have passed legislation exempting some unemployment from state taxes. Thus, these states have to add the $20,400 (unemployment for two taxpayers) back to state income so that this income can be taxed in that state.
I'm filing in CA, so I believe it's not taxable income. My taxable income was less than 10k, but i was very surprised to only qualify for a small amount of the CA EITC due to the calculations. I was unable to edit the 20,400 UCE that populated in the addition to adjustment to income field.
