On 2/21/26, I e-filed both federal and Wisconsin state taxes. Federal was accepted. Wisconsin was rejected due to the Retirement Subtraction feature. I was informed a software update on 2/26/26 would resolve the problem. I updated Turbo Tax and tried to refile the Wisconsin forms (after deselection filing of the federal forms). I received a message stating that I cannot file the Wisconsin forms before or without filing the federal forms.
Since the federal forms have been filed and accepted already, is there any way to e-file the Wisconsin forms? What happens if I attempt to refile the (accepted) federal forms again just so I can then (hopefully) file the Wisconsin forms? Or is mailing them my only option?

There was an update to Wisconsin's retirement income section. The update was available on February 26, 2026. Please log in and ensure your product has been updated (online versions update automatically). Make any changes based on the following guidelines, complete a final review and resubmit your return.
1. If all of your retirement income is from qualified plans -- like a 401(k), 403(b), or government pension -- you can simply review and resubmit. Most workplace retirement plans are qualified.
2. If you have retirement income from a non-qualified plan (uncommon), go to Retirement Benefits Adjustments and follow the steps to update your amounts before resubmitting.
When you resubmit your return, TurboTax will only send your Wisconsin return not your federal return, since it was already accepted. Once you follow the steps above, you will be able to electronically file your state return.
I followed your instructions and tried to refile my taxes but I received a message that my transmission didn't go through. What gives?
Did you get another rejected after you refiled?
Make sure you have updated your software and refile your WI return.
If you are using desktop software you may need to do a manual update. Try clearing your Cache and Cookies and then try this link instructions.

Yes, I have tried to re-file multiple times and keep getting rejected.
