Sort of. Say all of it is the RMD. If you are 72 it will ask you if it is the RMD. Say yes. The pension doesn't need to calculate any RMD. Anything your pension pays you is considered to be the RMD. Traditional pensions automatically fulfill the rules of an RMD.
In turbotax, when I checked yes to is the 1099-r retired pay an rmd, if I check yes, it calculates my rmd owed at that retired pay amount. Wrong?
Actually, I'm trying to update my own question. I checked yes that my entire 1099-R retired pay was an RMD, but I should have answered the question about how much was my rmd from this 10099-R last year as $0.
Correct, Your military pay automatically covers your full RMD so none of it would have been required distributions from the year before.
