Form 8915-E

Agreed!  Sounds like you are trying to hold the document over our heads by asking for the money up front.

Form 8915-E

The form is supposed to be available today but it still says to revisit this section later.  Are there any further updates on when the form will be available?

Form 8915-E

I can only imagine that Turbo Tax monitors these discussons.  Please take steps to address the concerns being expressed.  I too logged in today expecting to be able to complete my taxes and efile.  I agree with the comments that it seems that planning (or execution) of the update has failed to deliver the update timely.  I wouldn't be surprised if this is due to staffing/resource issues due to COVID... but I would also think that a tax prep company is immune from a downturn in the economy... (death and taxes and all that...)

TT, thanks for what you do well, which is a lot.  Help us out here.

Form 8915-E

Any update on this?  I'm in a holding pattern waiting for 8915-E to be integrated into Turbo Tax for Small Business. Release date was set for 2/24/2021 (today)?

Thanks

Form 8915-E

The TurboTax 8915-E should be available on Feb. 25 (pending IRS approval by then).

The IRS just finalized the form on Feb 11. TurboTax must now submit their 8915-E software to the IRS for testing to be sure that both TurboTax and the IRS e-file computer are compatible. That process usually takes the IRS 2-3 weeks for approval to release the new form to the public.

See below for a link to sign up for an email when the form is ready.

This form is necessary to report COVID related distributions from IRA's and other retirement plans to report the distribution, pay it back over 3 years or spread the tax over 3 years.

A COVID-19 related distribution is reported on a new 8915-E form.

See this TurboTax FAQ to sign up for an e-mail when the form is ready.

  • I logged on to turbo tax this morning (2/24/21) to start my taxes and the form is still not available. It actually said something to the effect that they can't save me any $$ and that I'd have to pay 10% penalty. I stopped and will wait till its available. Any update in when it will be 'live' or available?

HR Block will allow me to E file with 8915-e right now. I’ve been hesitant to file with them because I’ve been with TurboTax for so long BUT TurboTax needs to get this update completed ASAP or I will be taking my business (and future tax filings) somewhere else.

Form 8915-E, Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments, will be available for e-file on February 25.
