Is it normal for my refund to greatly decrease when I get to the section for stimulus checks? I was under the impression that the stimulus money wouldn't be taxed.

before I went through the stimulus section here on turbotax, my taxes due was only around $300. After the stimulus section my taxes due went to over $2,000.

Stimulus checks are not taxable. If the program had included the Recovery Rebate Credit in your refund, and then you indicated that you had already received the stimulus, then that would have decreased your refund/increased your tax due.  It is not changing your overall tax liability.
