I moved from NYC to NJ at the end of June, and still work in NYC. TT tells me I'm a part year resident of both states. When I start my NY return I'm asked to "Confirm my Permanent Home Address", with the subtext "We need to know if your permanent New York home address is different than your mailing address". The mailing address initially shown is my NJ mailing address. My actual permanent address is in California -- but I did not work or live in CA in 2017 so I'm not filing a CA return.
What's particularly confusing is the change in language between "Permanent Home Address" and "permanent New York home address". These seem to mean different things.
What should I put as my permanent home address? If I enter my last NY address, my refund drops about $2k to close to 0. As such the answer is of particular importance to me.
Thank you!

You are supposed to enter your last NY address. Your refund will continue to change as you proceed through your NY Part-Year Resident return and complete the information regarding your income.

I lived in NY until Aug of 2020 and now live in CA permanently. I work for the same company and on the NY state section it’s asking for my permanent home address as of 12/31/2020. I won’t be going back to NY and do not maintain a residence there, but do I still need to put in my last NY address when it asks or is my new permanent home address my address is CA?
@ScubaSteve8890 Enter your last New York address. New York says, "Part-year residents: Your permanent home address is the address of the dwelling place in New York State that you occupied last in the tax year, whether you or your spouse own or rent it."
