I have a pension from a non-qualified plan. However, TurboTax keeps asking me to correct this error: Was This Distribution From a 403(b) Plan? My only choices are 1) Yes, or 2) No, it was from another qualified plan. Neither answer is correct.

I had the same problem as of Saturday March 15. Does anyone know if this has been addressed by TurboTax as it was reported the TurboTax Moderators? I can't proceed with filing and hate to wait given the current IRS turmoil. Thanks to everyone for the discussion on this issue.

I have the exact same problem with a non-qualified plan. I chose other nonqualified, then set the RMD = 0. However, the Turbotax review is circular, so skip it. This is piss poor service for a premium plan. No customer service unless you want to pay extra. Ridiculous.

I am waiting as well and having the same issue.  Contacted my plan administrator to verify everything was correct on the forms...

Hopefully will get an update on the fix!

Choose 'other qualified plan'.  A 1099-R is considered a distribution from a 'retirement plan', even though that may not apply in your case.  In Box 7, you can enter Code D on line 1, and a 4 or 7 (whatever is on your form) on Line 2.

The amount in Box 2a will be the taxable amount. If asked for RMD, you can enter an amount equal to or less than the total distribution amount. Neither the IRS nor TurboTax know what your RMD should be (or even if you're required to take one), but this will get your entry into TurboTax without errors.

Here's more info on 1099-R for Pensions, Annuities, Retirement.

Yes I received notice from TurboTax on Friday that they fixed the glitch in their program and you are now able to select "non-qualified". Everything worked fine and I was able to file my taxes.
