I filled in our Social Security, which is all we have. Why is it telling me we are ineligible to file electronically because lines 6, 7, 11a, 11, 12, 15, 18 are zero?

I know I'm not required to file, I need to anyway.  Is this a glitch or the new tax law?

A tax return with no taxable income cannot be e-filed, it can only be printed and mailed.

You can add $1 of interest income so that the return has taxable income and can be e-filed.

Enter 1099-int in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen.  Click on Jump to 1099-int

For the box labeled Received From enter any name.  Then enter $1 in box 1 of the form.  Continue with this section until complete.

Unfortunately, the IRS can't accept eFiled returns if there's no taxable income which, in your situation, would be the case.

You'll have to mail in your return, since the IRS can't accept it via eFile.

For more information, please see the TurboTax FAQ "When a tax return can't be e-filed no matter what you do" below.
