I am getting this error message: "Check This Entry. Form 8606-S: Your calculations could not be completed." What should I do?

8606-S is for your spouse. 8606-T is for the taxpayer. You need to go back through your IRA section and make sure your answers are under the right person for the right amounts. This form is to keep track of your non-deductible basis. See Where do I find Form 8606?

The numbers should be whatever the basis was last year plus the new basis. It should be pretty simple. Check your entries. If you still can't find the problem, you may need to do some troubleshooting for a stuck cookie.

For stuck information:

  1. Delete the form:
    1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
    2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools
    3. then select  Tools.
    4. In the pop-up window named Tool Center,
    5. choose Delete a form.
    6. Select Delete next to the form 8606 in the list and follow the instructions.
  2. Log out of your return.
  3. Try one or more of the following:
  4. Log back into your return.
  5. Enter the form again.
