How to remove all preceding spaces or invalid characters

I found my street address and city (in some 1099s downloaded from broker) was reported as having

preceeding spaces or invalid characters that made the return unable to be e-filed.  This just showed up at time of attempting to efile my return.  I found pressing the Delete key and retyping the  street address or city - whichever the current error message was complaining about - fixed the problem.  Attempting to clear the supposed bad line of my address on the 1099 BY USING BACKSPACE did not clear up the problem.  Also the supposed bad "efile-able data" always looked correct on the 1099 form before I pressed keyboard Delete key and typed the street address or city name again.

Restarting TurboTax (Premier 2022) and rebooting my desktop PC did not clear the problem.

This only showed up on 1099s that were downloaded/imported and only on  some of the 1099s.  Root cause in the imported 1099s? TurboTax program bug?  Both?

@danhendel If the problem you are having is that you cannot e-file--it is because e-filing for 2022 returns is closed.  The only way to file a 2022 return now is by mail.   You have to print it, sign and date it ink, and mail it.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
