You can go to the Income section of TurboTax and click delete next to the W-2's that may have transferred from last year. You can then continue in the income section to enter any retirement income or social security income in the retirement income section. This is all you would need to do to change your income from employee to retiree.
Thanks, but I can't find any place to delete the W-2. Under "Federal" there's "Wages and Income" but I can't delete from there.....
Where can I find this "income section"?
Click on Federal on the left side of the online program screen
Click on Wages and Income
Click on Add more income (if shown)
On Wages and Salaries click on Show more (if shown)
On Wages and Salaries (W-2) click on Start or Revisit
After you click wages and income, you may have to select "I'll choose what I work on" or review/edit if you are using the online version.
So if you are using the desktop version select the following:
For the online version
That's not working. When I hit start it just brings me back to a page with three choices one being "I don't have my W-2" but Turbo Tax must just think it hasn't arrived yet. Any other ideas? I'm frustrated!
Then just select You do not have a W-2 and continue.
OK, but the program keeps asking me to "review".

You may have a phantom W-2 in your tax return that needs to be deleted.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen
Click on Tools
Click on Delete a form
How do I eliminate tge request for W-2 information on Federal tax form. We have been retired for many years and have no employee income
Once you tell TurboTax that you do not have any W-2s, we won't ask anymore. When you get to the W-2 entry page, choose 'I do not have any W-2s'. You have to answer that question for you and your spouse. But if you say 'Skip W-2s', they will keep asking because it thinks you have one to enter. @Mellen0808
