You do not enter a dependent's Social Security benefits on your tax return.  If the dependent has no other income then they do not report the benefits received on a tax return.

If your dependent receives Form SSA-1099, do not include their Form SSA-1099 on your tax return.

If your dependent children or parent's only source of income is from Social Security Form SSA-1099, it's probably is not taxable (because only half of social security income may be taxed; which is usually below the minimum taxable income threshold).

To add Form SSA-1099

1. Sign In or Open TurboTax

2.  Select "Take me to my return" (Online)

3.  Select "My Account" on top right of the screen (Online)

4.  Click on "Tools"

5.  Go to "Topics Search" (Online) or "Search Topics" in the top center of the screen (Desktop)

6.  Type "SSA-1099" and press "enter" to add your Form SSA-1099 (MFJ use the columns provided).

To determine if you need to report your dependent's Form SSA-1099 see FAQ below:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4767362
