You should look a bit closer at the form you have from SS.  A W-2 is only for employment income, not for retirement income

It should be a form SSA-1099 ....and that is NOT a W-2 form.

...SO, make all the W-2 boxes blank and get out of there and delete the W-2 form

Then go down to the retirement income section and find the entry section for an SSA-1099, and go in to enter the data there

If it's asking for an EIN number you are entering it in the wrong place. There is no EIN on social security SSA-1099.

Try going to the search box by My Account and type in SSA-1099 or Social Security Benefits.  That will give you a Jump To link to take you directly to it.

OR
Enter a SSA-1099, SSA-1099-SM or RRB-1099  under
Federal Taxes tab
Wages and Income tab

Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Update button

And.......If you ONLY get SSI or  Social Security or Social Security Disability or a SSA-1099 or RRB-1099 for railroad retirement you do not have to file a return.  And there is no benefit to itemizing deductions or claiming dependents.

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:
Married Filing Jointly: $32,000
Single or head of household: $25,000
