It is active for Online TurboTax today, but the desktop version is not scheduled until 02/26. You will get the email (if you signed up) once it has been released. Updates are usually done overnight, so hang in there. It is on its way. And as mentioned somewhere above, you can pay before filing - that way, you don't risk losing any promos you are taking advantage of. @huamapu @MrTibu
The form is available and ready to use..try deleting your 1099 and enetering it in manually..TT software should automatically guide you through the questions and get you through the 8915E..make sure you answer all the c19 questions ..i think the ttl cost shld be around $165 using their online software which includes the 8915E and all the other necessities.
Where is the thumbs down? For negative reviews? What kind of message board are you running when only positive feedback is encouraged :( By not having the form available yesterday like you have mentioned you cost e-filers a week. As you know Wednesday was the deadline to get the refund on 3/5/21. With current economic crisis that is what you need to focus not on a thumbs up for a late job. GET A CLUE!
By desktop do u mean the deluxe version I bought at Wal-Mart? Because its still not available as of 4pm est in Michigan.
TurboTax can update the online version piecemeal since it is their computer.
Mac and Windows versions must be updated with a download by the user (Mac updated are over 200MB long and can take a long time to download with a slow internet connection), so to avoid having updates every other day, TurboTax holds changes and packages many of them in together in a single update.
There was such an combined update scheduled for 2/25, but is seem that it has been held to 2/26 now. Perhaps a problem was found and needs to be fixed prior to release.
Why do I feel that come tomorrow the 25th there will be a new date...then another...then another....
You say the 8915-e form is not finalized so not yet available, but I know several people who have had their taxes done online using the 8915-e form. How can other tax services have this and turbo tax does not? Thank you
Form 8915-E is finalized, but it is not up updated and added to the TurboTax Desktop products, yet. It is already available to use in TurboTax Online, but it is not scheduled to be in the desktop version until 02/26. Use that link to get an email when the program gets updated, which will probably be overnight. @judknar
Ran the update this morning (TurboTax Premier for Mac), there were form updates and a software update, but still no Form 8915-E. Hopefully it shows up at some point today.
Happy to report that form 8915-E is now available in the desktop TT version as of the morning 0800 EST and is working as advertised. Thanks TT
also had it update on my desktop Deluxe edition and worked perfect.. good to see it now.
It’s working for Turbo Tax Desktop home and Business ! It’s a beautiful thing!!!
I had to go in and answer additional questions to get it to worn correctly. We plan on paying it all back so we had to make adjustments for all of it back!
thank full!!!
It's 2/26 and still no form 8915-E on Turbotax despite myriad claims it would be available on TT 2/24/2021.

Form 8915-E, Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments is available for both the TurboTax online web-based editions and the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions.
If you are using the desktop editions you have to update your software. Click on Online. Click on Check for Updates.
You need to enter or edit your Form 1099-R and answer the questions concerning a Covid-19 distribution.
Just filed mine. If you already entered your 1099-R(s), edit each one of them individually and answer the COVID-19 questions.
