Please clarify. Are you referring to a TurboTax follow up question in the 1099-R section?
I entered my data but was not asked followup question. The taxable amount should have been decreased by the amount of charitable payments made by me thru a QCD. I wrote checks from my IRA accointy.
If you are cashing out your IRA and writing checks to charities, this is not a QCD. This is a Schedule A donation.
A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity. QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your minimum required distributions (MRDs) for the year, as long as certain rules are met.
I figured it out. I didn't see the prompt I was looking for. It was included with other prompts and I missed it. I was looking to reduce the taxable amount from my 1099R for the QCD donations I made. I write checks directly from my IRA account to cover my RMD through my IRA custodian. I believe all is well now.
Thanks for your help 😀
