Filing 2021 late. Penalty abatement strategy questions.

Owe 67K for 2021.  Submitted extension on time, but filing late in 2025.  Was supporting family member with severe illness, also non-dependent family member with dementia care 3K per month, totaling over 140K when finally able to get the state to cover the expense.  Was under the impression that the fees would be paid back by the state, but that was not accurate and am out 140K which impacted ability to pay taxes.  2022, 2023, 2024 all filed and nothing due.  Filing 2020 and 2019, owing 52K and 23K.  Hardship overall began during Covid impacting income opportunities.  And financial situation spiraled from there.  Should I request abatement for all three years...2021, 2020, 2019.  And what forms would I need to submit.  And can those forms be filed after the tax return is sent, or does it need to be sent together.

My very simple, probably wrong calculation suggests you could owe $275,000 once interest and penalties are added going back to April 15, 2020.

For that amount of money, hire an expert tax professional to negotiate a settlement.  And don't even file those returns until you have a plan.
