Entering data from a 1099-R. Error msg says Must enter line 3. "Plan cost at annuity starting date." Where do I find this amount?

I have been using TurboTax for at least 5 years. Always entered data for 1099-R from the form. This year Turbo says I must enter the plan cost at the annuity starting date. It is not on the 1099-R. Where can I find this?

Entering data from a 1099-R. Error msg says Must enter line 3. "Plan cost at annuity starting date." Where do I find this amount?

Ok, this is why TurboTax is asking for plan amount contributed, otherwise the entire amount is taxable income, (amount from line 1).

Which could be what you have reported in prior years, and that is why you did not get that question.

Generally, the amount you paid into the plan is listed in box 5.
