Entered 4 1099-Rs. 2 have the check box that it's an IRS checked, which I put into TurboTax. Why do these amounts not included on 1040 line 4a? There's nothing there.

Thats ok.  Don’t worry about if line 4a is less than 4b. It’s now combining old lines 15&16 together and we know it’s weird but that’s the way it works now.  There’s a big explaination, you can search the forum for several long discussions on it.
