My husband died April 2023.  I received a form SSA1099 for his retirement benefits.  I also received one for my disability benefits.  Do I file as before, Married Filing Jointly, or as single?  Do I include his monies as my income?

You can file Married Filing Jointly for 2023, the year of death, and include your husband's 2023 income. When you enter the Personal Info in TurboTax, the program provides a box to check to indicate that the individual passed away during the year.

Yes you still file a joint return.  My husband died in March too.  Nothing different for taxes this year.  Enter his SSA-1099.  Next year you file as Single unless you have a child and can file as qualifying widow.

My spouse also died in March 2023.  When should I expect his ssa1099 to arrive in the mail?

The Social Security office mails the tax forms out in January.  If you haven't received the forms, you can download or contact the Social Security office in your area. Refer to the website Replacement SSA-1099 for more information.
