I was reviewing taxes before filing. I compare the TurboTax "forms" with the paper forms I received.
I entered the CSA 1099-R in 'easy step' and the Box 9b amount I entered was shown 'forms' in Box 5 in "forms".
The Box 5 amount entered in 'easy step' was shown in 'forms' next to Box 5 in a box labeled 'does not apply'.
The 'forms' showed no amount entered in Box 9b.
I was expecting to see the box numbers/amounts entered in 'easy step' to be identical in 'forms' - is this a problem with how TurboTax is calculating taxes - or a detail which is not a problem?

Yeah...the background 1099-R form worksheet, moves some of those CSA-1099-R $$ amounts around to where it needs them to be for it's calculations. It has done this for many years now, and calculations have worked out properly.
It would be nice it TTX, someday, created a dedicated CSA- / CSF-1099-R worksheet so that it doesn't confuse folks who take a look at the worksheet.
The folks that could really mess up, would be those who attempt to make their CSA-/CSF-1099-R entries directly in Forms Mode, and not thru the interview. Then they would get boxes 5 and 9b all messed up. Always use the Q&A interview, and only use Forms Mode to correct some rare errors, where direct entry is sometimes easier.
