Using Turbo Tax home & business. Entering 1099R in personal income section. Turbo is telling me that box 13 needs to have a 14 character Payer State ID Number. On my 1099R box 13 asks for a date of payment, and not a state payer ID number which is actually asked for in box 15. Either way there is no number there and I have never been asked for one before. I have no state taxes withheld on my 1099R anyway. Not sure what to do.
I am sure if I had a number and entered it in box 13, and I went to file my taxes something would pop up and tell me my number is in the wrong box. I think you might need to do an update to fix issue. What do I know? anyway thanks for your help.

If there were no state income taxes withheld then leave those boxes blank (empty) when entering the Form 1099-R in TurboTax. On a standard IRS Form 1099-R those would be boxes 14, 15 and 16.
Box 13 Date of Payment has nothing to do with state taxes. It is a payment date when payment was made for reportable death benefits under section 6050Y
Edit answer to "no state income taxes withheld"
Are you sure you are using the 2022 software?
For a 1099-R, I see that the state ID number was in box 13 back in the 2019 software.
2022 (Desktop Premier) has it in box 15, and if I take it out, the error check shows it in box 15 too.
(true...Doesn't mean the error check on H&B isn't mis-numbering the error check, guess it's possible)
1099-R forms for 2020 was the first year box 15 was used for the state ID Number.
Definitely using 2022 software.
well....did you get it to go thru?
if you didn't have any state taxes withheld....did you try leaving boxes 14,15,16 entirely empty on that 1099-R?
( 14 digits sounds like a NM thing...wondering if the error notice was after the NM section error check...almost certainly it is just a text error in the notice though)
I started over, and box asking for number popped up again. I skipped box and just finished my taxes. When I did reviews of return after, turbo said no problem with returns, so I filed my taxes. Hope all is well.
