Okay, that makes me increasingly more hopeful and positive about this whole situation.
Thanks for that update!
Thanks ( yes hard to believe some got unsolicited $1200 amounts ) .. but looks like they will provide payment when filing taxes for 2020.. this is good
Awesome, awesome, awesome info here!
Thanks so very much! I'm getting on the phone right now.
Keep us posted!
I spoke to an IRS representative again and was basically told the same thing I was told before. The option for the credit will be on this upcoming year’s tax return where you can claim it there if you think you were eligible and didn’t receive it.
Again, as far as the glitch issue, I was told to file an amended return to correct the error so that my eligibility status would be fixed before I file my next set of taxes and if I didn’t, my eligibility would not likely change even when I tried to claim it on my 2019 taxes.
I have already filed my amended return as they previously instructed but it’s never been processed. If you have an amended return still out there pending processing, she said they can’t adjust or note anything to your return until that process is complete. She also knew nothing about having an account marked for any turbo tax glitch.
Bottom line, I got nowhere again and if having the IRS Mark your account for review of the economic payment is somehow an option, I can’t do that because I now have an outstanding amended return that has to be processed. It’s very frustrating.
A version of the link and info you need to reach a person is below.
I just called and they estimate my wait time to be between 15 - 30 minutes

How do you speak to a live person at the IRS?
Has anyone had any luck with the information that was posted earlier about them marking your account for manual EIP ? I am now on hold with a 3rd agent (not in EIP Dept) They spoke with their manager who said she has not heard of a dedicated department for fixing this and if they note my account, the only thing that will do is provide that information for the next person who logs into my account.
I pretty much just had the same conversation with an IRS rep.
This rep knew nothing about having my account "marked".
To the IRS you are either eligible or ineligible, and that is based on your previous years' filing. If the box was checked in 2018 or 2019 the IRS has no way of knowing if it was in error or not. The tax return must be amended to change it.
So, after I told the rep that I didn't appreciate feeling like I was being scolded, she put me on hold and said that my amended return was "pending", and that's all that needed to be done.
She did say that all reps at the IRS knew about the TurboTax glitch. And, they have all been trained on how to advise taxpayers about what to do going forward to claim the stimulus payment/credit on their 2020 filing.
Why on Earth (or how) would the error/glitch on a 2018 return or 2019 return affect eligibility for the 2020 return, as a previous poster suggested (per the IRS instruction to amend). That makes no sense.
I really have no idea because the credit is technically supposed to be an advanced credit and a person would think that if everything checked out on the 2020 tax filing, as far as income and dependent eligibility, that there would be no need to go back to look at a 2018 or 2019 return.
I just got the feeling that the IRS representative just told me what she needed to in order to get me off the phone. I only filed the amended return in hopes that I may have been able to collect my economic impact payment this year instead of having to wait, but I’ve given up on that ever happening. I only called the IRS again today due to the post about getting my account “marked” but that ended up being an unsuccessful attempt. The amendment I filed still hasn’t been processed and the rep knew nothing about “marking” tax returns over a turbo tax glitch.
I hope you all consider emailing Andrea at TurboTax president's office, telling her everything you've done and what the IRS told you, and that this isn't resolved. Getting different messages from the IRS is even more reason for TurboTax to hear from us... and continue to hear from us until they get it fixed for ALL of us.

The most recent IRS rep I spoke with said checks will continue to be issued through December 31st so don't feel like you have to give up just because of the non-filers deadline.
Turbo Tax is removing the email address for the president's office. They are removing the contact info of someone who has the power to step in and get their mistake corrected. It OFFICE is OF THE so PRESIDENT wrong AT for INTUIT to DOT do COM that.
Filing a complaint (not just bad review: a complaint!) with the BBB is another way to get it.
Bottom line ... no matter why you did not get the stimulus check ... if you don't get one issued by 12/31 then when you file the 2020 return you can apply for the credit if you are still eligible for it. It is too late to complain to anyone or blame anyone or to file any kind of return since none will be processed by the end of the year at this late date.
If my rent is still due, it is absolutely not too late.
What if we get future financial help down the line with the same eligibility requirements? We'll be denied again. So it is worth amending. And complaining. And holding people accountable.
Are you serious?! It is not too late to complain or blame. This error is not our fault and it needs to be fixed. I have been dealing with this for months now and it is absolute nonsense for you to tell us to give up. I am going to go ahead and guess that you received your stimulus payment. 🤨
Completely agree with you!
I think what we are all trying to do here is pinpoint the problem, identify the remedy, so it does not happen going forward, and implement the solution. It has nothing to do with assigning blame or complaining .... it's about getting this fixed.
