I'm 37, and my legal address is at my parent's home. My dad claimed me as a dependent on his 2018 taxes, even though I was employed and supported myself

Fast forward to the 2019 tax season. I claimed that I could not be considered a dependent  and my dad claimed he had no dependents. However  by mid April  when we got our taxes back, stimulus checks were already being issued. My parents got theirs  my boyfriend who hasn't had a job in 2 years got his, and when I go to the IRS Get My Payment , it still says Payment Status Not Available.

My question is, do I need to call to make sure there isn't a mix up, am I supposed to wait until 2021 because they only run your  name through the database once?  I need that $1200 to get my driver's license reinstated, there is a lack of tpublic transportation where I live, and without a car, I will remain unemployed and hungry.

The most frustrating part of it is that my dad got absolutely no tax benefit for listing me as a dependent. I asked to use their address as a place to collect my mail.

If someone knows the best thing for me to do in my situation, I would really appreciate it.

This was not helpful at all.  I cannot be claimed as a dependent. None of the reasons for bein ineligible apply to me.  They did in 2018, but not 2019, when my parents couldn't claim me, and I claimed myself.

I have looked at the IRS website many times, but it does not answer my question, or solve my dilemma.   I cannot wait until next year to claim the tax credit. I currently have no finances, and I should not be penalized even though I got my 2019 taxes in on time, and received a $200 refund.

The IRS can look at your 2018 or 2019 return to issue a stimulus check.  If they do not have a 2018 return then you may be waiting for them to finish processing 2019 before they will be able to use it to issue your stimulus check.

If you used the non-filer site, you will not be able to e-file a 2019 return after using the non-filer site.

TurboTax has no control over your stimulus check, nor can TT track it for you or tell you when the IRS will issue it. Refer to the sites linked below:

You can call the IRS hotline at 1-800-919-9835 to get updates on your stimulus payment.
