Whoops about the email addresses. If you email the collections email for AAFES and Congressional comment section on the military star website, you'll be able to communicate with them. Just don't add personal information regarding your account other than an email or phone number they can contact you back with.
My collection company added a $2,600 fee then continued to charge me interest on the total. When I tried to contact AAFES directly I was referred to the collection company. When I tried to negotiate with them they made it clear that they would keep collecting until the full amount is paid. My suggestion is to declare bankruptcy and get the judge to declare the account as a credit card not a government debt. Then you can have the balance dismissed, once and for all. My advice for tax returns is to quit withholding and put the money in the bank. Then at tax time pay exactly what you owe. No return nothing to take. They can take other government payments, so do this sooner rather than later.
Hi by any chance do you know what’s the number to get this settled? I can’t find a number other than the offset company. I try to call to the regular military star card number but they said my account doesn’t exist. Any help will be greatly appreciated
The IRS treasury offset program can be reached at 800-304-3107. They should be able to tell you who is taking your money and how to reach them.
