My husband and I just got married in October, because he only just joined the military in July, we’ve never lived together and are filing separately. Since he’s away for training still, I don’t have access to his SSN but still need it to file on here, is there a way to work around that? I have such minimal contact with him I can’t just ask for his SSN

Since you are legally married you should be filing as Married Filing Jointly, assuming your spouse approves.
Not being able to contact a military spouse seems odd. You should be able to contact them either by cell phone, call or text. Email or the old fashioned way, by writing a letter.
He is still in training (Marine Corps), they don’t have access to their phones at the moment (nor do we know when they’ll get them back) and I do not have an address to write to, otherwise I would just get his SSN from him lol Aside from that, our finances are entirely separate and we benefit more from filing separate rather than jointly, since neither of us qualify for any of the tax breaks jointly would allow us anyways, and I have student loan payments that are lower this way. I make minimum wage so the standard deduction is still higher than what I made either way
If you are receiving a tax refund you can file your tax return at any time within the next 3 years, on or before April 15, 2028.
And if you owe, then you still have until April 15, 2025 to pay the taxes owed.
You should be able to contact him sometime in the next 3 months. Marine Corp basic is only 13 weeks long.
He’s not in basic anymore lol he joined in July, its January, he’s field training, but thanks anyways.
