Common places to correct this are In the "My info" section and the "Job W2" item under the "Income & Expenses" tab.
In the "My Info" section:
1. Click Edit next taxpayers name be sure to select Ohio as resident state
2. Be sure to also indicate "no other resident state."
3. Do the same for the spouse information
4. Continue
5. Scroll down to the "other state income" item
6. Put in VA as a "PCS state."
7. Review the income type question and select "yes" or "no" as applicable.
Then in the "Income & Expenses" tab
8. Click "Income & Expenses" at the top of the page
9. Find "Job W2"
10. Edit/add
11. Verify the W2 information and be sure to answer the follow on questions; select "Active duty military pay"
12. Wrap up income
Then go to the state interview and "continue" OH. It should show you as "Resident." If not, "Edit" the "General Info" section from the OH Summary page to put in "resident" to include "county" and "school district."
Next, "Edit" the income section from the OH summary page and you should get questions about being in the military and entering military pay to exclude.
