I’ve been in the National Guard all year, but I’ve been on active guard orders since March 18, 2024. Do I put myself as active duty on my taxes? Or just national guard?

I have been on military leave from my civilian employer since getting put on active guard orders in March. The National Guard was basically my job for the whole year after starting March 18th 2024.

Yes, indicate Military in the Personal Info section.

According to the IRS:

"Military service. The term “military service” means the period beginning on the date on which you enter military service and ending on the date on which you are released from military service or die while in military service. If you are a member of the National Guard, your military service will include service meeting all three of the following criteria. • Under a call to active service authorized by the President or the Secretary of Defense. • For a period of more than 30 consecutive days under section 502(f) of title 32, United States Code. • For purposes of responding to a national emergency declared by the President and supported by federal funds."
