Yes, if you are an armed forces reservist, you can deduct the unreimbursed cost of your uniform if military regulations restrict you from wearing it except while on duty as a reservist. In figuring the deduction, you must reduce the cost by any nontaxable allowance you receive for these expenses.
If local military rules don't allow you to wear fatigue uniforms when you are off duty, you can deduct the amount by which the cost of buying and keeping up these uniforms is more than the uniform allowance you receive.

No, you cannot deduct uniforms, but you might qualify to deduct travel expenses if you traveled more than 100 miles from home for your reserve duties.
Please follow the instructions below:
- Login to your TurboTax Account
- Click on the Search box on the top and type “2106”
- Click on “Jump to 2106”
- You will see the "Do you have any expenses from one of these professions or situations?" screen and TurboTax will walk you through entering your information.

Hello, @DanaB27
The IRS website says I can deduct uniforms but the TT software does not ask this it only asks for traveling.
