Deployment Moving Expenses

I am an active duty.  I was on deployment for 8 months on a ship.  I was part of a MEU where I had to attach to another unit at a different base.  Upon my return I went back to my regular unit at my old base.  Can I deduct the storage unit I had to rent while living on the ship and the shipping costs for transporting my vehicle back home under moving expenses?

Deployment Moving Expenses

No. You cannot deduct long term storage fees.  You are only able to deduct storage within 30 days of when the items are removed from your old home.

It depends on if the move was for a permanent change of station or not. The cost of transporting your vehicle back home would only be deductible as a moving expense if the move was due to a Permanent Change of Station.  This would include one permanent post of duty to another permanent post of duty.
