Wages & Income screen is blank

I'm a long time user back to 1990. Using the desktop version 2022 Deluxe, the w-2 screen is blank. No way to import. Doesn't walk you through either. I can do manual input from Forms screen but think this is BS. No tech support to find either. I just installed and updated all. What a waste of an evening. Probably more bugaboos waiting down the line.

Is Windows your OS?  If so, try this -

Save the tax return.  Close the TurboTax program

Right click on the TurboTax icon

Click on Properties

Click on the Compatibility tab

Check the box Run the program as an administrator

Click on Apply and OK

Start the TurboTax program and see if the problem persists

Thank you. that seems to work. Will I have to run as an admin whenever i launch the product? (I am logged in w/  admin  rights, generally speaking.

No, the program is now setup to start as being run by an administrator.  You do not have to do anything special to start the program.

This solution doesn't work. I faced this issue with 2022 filing. I'm facing  this issue again with 2023 filing. In 2022 I was able to work around the issue by starting online for free, importing w2 wages in online account. Then import the online tax file to desktop application, thereby bypassing wages and income screen on desktop. In 2023 I don't see option to start for free online. Turbo tax needs to fix this!

The experience described by you and in this thread is being further examined.  

In the meantime, try using this link to get started using TurboTax Online to try your previously used workaround.  If you just click that you have a W-2, then you will see that you can start the program for free and possibly pay nothing as well (depending on if there is additional income or tax situations to add).

 Follow these steps to provide us with diagnostic data:

TurboTax Online:

1. Sign into your online account.
2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen. 
3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools   
4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
5. Please post the token number that is provided in this step as a reply to this thread. 

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

1. Open your return.
2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent.”
3. Please post the token number that is provided in this step as a reply to this thread.

The proposed solution didn't work for me either.  I'm running Windows 10 Pro on my laptop and have had this blank screen issue two years running.   I t is extremely irritating.  I love the product and prefer the desktop version so I can run multiple what-ifs for tax planning purposes.........but blank screens are a real problem.

You can try these steps to resolve if you are using the online version:

• Clearing your Cache and Cookies
• Using a different browser
• Opening an Incognito Window
